President’s Letter

Greetings from the Pittsburg Historical Society, located in the heart of New Hampshire’s Great North Woods. For more than 40 years, our nonprofit organization has been dedicated to preserving and promoting Pittsburg’s unique heritage.

Our museum, located in the Pittsburg Town Hall, serves as a vital repository for our community’s story. It houses a comprehensive research library alongside a diverse collection of historical records, documents, and artifacts.

Visitors can explore the legacy of local gold panning, the evolution of the logging industry, the history of our schoolhouses, and a century of Old Home Day celebrations. This coming season, we are especially excited to debut a new exhibit showcasing Pittsburg’s historic farms.

Through the generous support of the Town of Pittsburg, the Moose Plate Grant, LCHIP, the Tillotson North Country Grants, and our individual donors, we have completed several important capital improvements. These include restoring our original windows and upgrading our lighting and fire safety systems.

As we continue to modernize our technology and refresh our exhibits, we rely on our members’ support. Membership dues directly fund our daily operations, research library, and public programming. Members also receive our periodic newsletter featuring historical insights, collection updates, and invitations to upcoming events.

We invite you to support the Pittsburg Historical Society by becoming a member or renewing your membership for the 2026 season.
